Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
While pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and cook until golden brown, about 8 minutes. Add garlic and red pepper flakes and cook until garlic is golden brown, about 2 minutes.
Add Dei Fratelli Whole Tomatoes and salt and bring to a slight boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until almost dry.
Add vodka (optional) and cream and bring to a slight boil. Reduce heat to low until sauce comes to a simmer. Serve over pasta and garnish with basil.
