In a 4 quart sauce pot add the brown sugar and water.
Bring to a simmer over medium heat until the sugar has melted and formed a thin brown syrup. Cook for 8-10 minutes.
Add Dei Fratelli Tomato Sauce, spices, and onion. Cook for an additional 8-10 minutes over medium heat, stirring frequently. Check the consistency of the glaze at this point. It should evenly coat the back of a spoon and look sticky.
For a little boost in sweetness, add sugar or honey to taste.
